Never underestimate the reasons why people hire you. These reasons are often deep and deeply meaningful. And if you can find ways to put them in the copy and imagery in your website, I can pretty much guarantee that your site will become a magnet for new clients.

So…what are the reasons that people hire you?

When people first start looking for someone like you - a coach, a lawyer, a financial advisor, for example - they have a problem. They need help. Maybe they want you to help them get into shape and lose that stubborn belly fat. Maybe they are confused and need help on creating their investment portfolio. Or maybe they’re trying to figure out how to put a will together so that their loved ones will be taken care of once they’re gone. These are all what I call logical, tangible reasons. You have a problem. You need a solution.

Your people have pretty deep, personal reasons.

But I think for professional services providers, the reasons for which you’re hired are much deeper. People - smart people - will take their time looking for the person or the firm that they feel is the right fit. Someone they feel really understands them, someone who is deeply committed to their work, someone who is trustworthy, and someone who has the experience to help them become a better version of themselves after you’ve worked with them. People have an immeasurable need to feel good about what they do in life. And when they hire you, you become part of their mission to be better. To feel better. To do better.

So in this video, I talk about the three really big reasons why people hire you. Take a look.

If you really understand who your ideal client is, and what motivates them to hire you, you will grow your client list and your business in an authentic and meaningful way. And isn’t that what you want?

If your website isn’t helping you attract the people you most want to work with, it’s probably not because of the way it looks. It is more likely that its appearance and the content just don’t resonate with your intended audience.
