The first time I sent out my email newsletter, I was scared out of my wits. I don't remember what I wrote about, and I'm sure I threw in a lot of stuff that someone, probably a "marketing expert" said I should put in it.

I don't remember how it was received, and I don't remember if anyone replied to the email. I just know that I got started. And for me, getting started and getting things done is far more important than getting things perfect.

Because after that, I started to publish this newsletter every month. Then every two weeks. I'm still publishing every two weeks, and sometimes a little more, sometimes a tad less.

The point is, I'm pretty consistent.

And the practice has been quite effective. Effective in that my readership has grown, effective in that I'm offering readers information they like and want, and effective in that it has helped my business by getting new clients.

That is what a good newsletter does. Because people opt in to your list, they are volunteering to get email from you. They usually aren't ready to buy from you or hire you. But they want to get to know you. And if you do the work, they will.

And then eventually, they'll become clients. Some of them, at least. And that could be enough. Just a few and you've paid your bills, invested in your business, saved some moola for the future, bought yourself something you've wanted.

But finding the right topics, the right tone, the right format...it does take some thought and work. But don't sweat all of that. Get started. Because the return on investment is so worth it.

In this video, I share a few newsletters you can study for ideas and inspiration. Each is very different from the next. One of them is mine.

But they are all outstanding and effective.

What do think? Were you inspired by any of the examples I showed? I hope so. More are coming, too. I want you to have a newsletter that helps you connect with your audience and leads to new clients. I want you to write something on a regular basis you enjoy writing and sending out!
