I'd like to say something very important before I start: I NEVER knock other people's work. No matter what. When I first saw the old Heng Ren website I thought, "Yeah, it could use a redesign." It looked outdated, and there were some foundational issues such as organization and strategy that needed addressing. But there were aspects of this site that worked well and I incorporated those into the new site.

Heng Ren Partners is a Boston-based asset management firm investing in Chinese companies whose stocks trade on the U.S. stock exchange. Heng Ren focuses on Chinese companies not researched by Wall Street banks, and the firm has engaged several Chinese companies as an activist investor. Founded and led by Peter Halesworth, the firm is a major player in its niche. So when Peter asked me if I'd like to redesign his firm's website, I jumped.

Peter had several requirements, chief among them, rewriting the existing copy so that it more succinctly explained to visitors what the firm does and why it's important to investors and market watchers. He also wanted imagery that was more current, more eye-catching and that capture the China of today. In other words, don't put images of the Forbidden City or the Great Wall or the Terra Cotta warriors up there. And he didn't want the typical images of traders on the stock exchange floors in there, either.

Also, Peter needed to really highlight the publications and other reports Heng Ren has published. There were a lot to choose from and they also have a video of Peter testifying before Congress about investment. And we used articles about Heng Ren and the markets that mention Heng Ren throughout the site to highlight the firm's expertise and involvement in major news.

Overall, we're pleased with the results. The site loads quickly, works and functions properly in all browsers, it's nicely SEO'd so it's getting everywhere and getting found easily in searches. Hooray!

Thanks, Peter, for this opportunity. It was a great pleasure to work on this project.
